Man killed by live TECO power wire, Tampa Police say

TAMPA — A man was killed Wednesday morning after he accidentally struck a live TECO power wire with a hydraulic lift he was operating, according to Tampa Police.

Jose Antonio Blanco, 45, was attempting to make repairs to his home on the 700 block of E. 17th Avenue when he struck the wire. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Police said they are further investigating the incident — but gave no further details.
