Celebratory gunfire in downtown Tampa injured one person on July Fourth

The victim was sitting in a car on top of the Poe garage.

TAMPA — A person was shot in the wrist late Sunday on the top floor of the Poe Parking Garage downtown.

At 11:52 p.m. on the Fourth of July, the person was sitting partially outside of their vehicle. Neither they nor other witnesses saw anyone who could have fired the round, and did not hear it nearby. The source of the gunfire is unknown.

The victim, who was not named by Tampa Police, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
