1 person dead after Tampa residential fire

Fire crews found two people inside the residence, according to a news release.

One person is dead after a residential fire in West Tampa on Thursday morning, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.

Fire officials said they responded to the fire on the 3400 block of Beach Street just before 9 a.m. Thursday and found a residence “approximately 50% involved with heavy smoke and flames coming from the carport,” a news release from Tampa Fire Rescue states.

Neighbors told firefighters that people were possibly inside and crews rescued two people from the structure. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within about 45 minutes, the news release states.

Three people were taken to the hospital, one of whom died from their injuries, the release states.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No other information, including the name of the person who died, was released.
