All lanes of the Howard Frankland Bridge will close on Saturday, Jan. 9, for construction related to the Gateway Expressway project, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
The closure will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday and run through noon Sunday, Jan. 10, weather permitting. Temporary signage will direct motorists traveling both directions through detours on Roosevelt Boulevard, Gandy Boulevard and Dale Mabry Highway.
Drivers should add about 30 minutes of travel time when using these routes, as traffic congestion could cause delays, the department said.
During the closure, work crews will remove the Fourth Street North bridge over Interstate-275. If weather interrupts the work, the closure will be rescheduled to Saturday Jan. 16.
