TAMPA — Travel through Tampa toward St. Petersburg slowed to a crawl this morning on Interstate 275 south following a crash involving a number of vehicles near the Howard/Armenia interchange.
Initially, the three left lanes of I-275 south were closed. By mid-morning, the scene had been cleared and traffic returned to normal.
The state Department of Transportation posted its first alerts about the crash just before 7 a.m. at its website and on Twitter. Traffic backed up to the north beyond the Interstate 4 interchange and along I-4 west entering downtown Tampa.
