HOLIDAY — A pedestrian was struck and killed trying to cross U.S. 19 early Friday morning, troopers said.

The 71-year-old Holiday man was trying to cross the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 at Mile Stretch Drive about 4:15 a.m. as the driver of a southbound Ford F-150 pickup drove through the intersection and struck the man, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The pickup had a green traffic signal, troopers said.

The pedestrian died at the scene. The driver of the pickup, a 65-year-old Spring Hill man, and a 58-year-old Spring Hill woman riding with him were not injured.
