A lawyer has dropped his suit against Pizza Hut over charging an 8.5 percent sales tax after the Florida Supreme Court had voided the Hillsborough transportation surtax. However, similar suits ae pending over sales taxes paid by customers purchasing banana splits and oil changes at separate businesses.
The legal claims say businesses collected an 8.5 percent tax after the Florida Supreme Court voided the transportation surtax.
Sixty-two percent of respondents said they wouldn’t use public transit, but one-third say it is very important to the community.
Administrators say the county needs a 10-year, $700 million investment to meet a growing list of transportation fixes.
‘Florida is such a great candidate for rail,’ Pete Buttigieg said. The state has heard that before.
