MacDill Avenue reopens after sewer line break in South Tampa

TAMPA — The hole that opened in front of Datz restaurant in South Tampa and stopped traffic both ways on MacDill Avenue Friday was repaired by Saturday morning.

The city first reported what it called a "cave-in" caused by a sewer mainline break around 5 p.m. on Friday, causing a cumbersome commute home for several drivers.

But on Saturday, drivers were able to drive freely near Barcelona Avenue over the patched-up road.

Hard to tell there was a hole here yesterday from a sewer line break. All is clear on S. MacDill. @TB_Times pic.twitter.com/YfmueliTSS
