The summertime pattern of hot temperatures and afternoon showers continues through the second half of the week across Tampa Bay.

The afternoon rain could develop into potentially strong storms, similar those that formed Wednesday night that even produced a waterspout in Hudson.

Thursday morning will start off calm, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures kicking off in the mid to upper 70s, according to 10Weather WTSP meteorologist Grant Gilmore.

But that changes as the day progresses, with temperatures expected to climb to the low 90s and afternoon storms ramping up once again, Gilmore said.

A sea breeze begins to develop by midday and slowly pushes inland, Gilmore said. This could spark a few showers along coastal communities before the rain moves farther east, away from the beaches.

Then, the storms will travel back toward the coast through the evening and the early overnight hours before dissipating.
