'Gorgeous' weather on the way for Tampa Bay

Floridians hoping for a break from summer's sticky, rainy days should find relief this weekend as the season's first cold front moves across Tampa Bay.

The front will bring some rain and thunderstorms early today, though most areas should be dry by 11 a.m., clearing the way for a cool and sunny weekend, said Bay News 9 meteorologist Josh Linker. Temperatures should drop to about 80 degrees by midafternoon with much lower humidity and a breeze.

Temperatures tonight into Sunday morning will be in the low to mid 60s. For areas north and east of Tampa Bay, they could drop into the lower 50s.

"Sunday should be a totally sunny day," Linker said, with temperatures in the upper 70s and much lower humidity. "It's going to be gorgeous."

That weather should stretch into Monday and possibly Tuesday, Linker said, with some humidity and rain by midweek and highs in the mid 80s.

"Any time you get the first front to come through, that usually ends the summer pattern," he said. "We'll have some bouts of humidity and rain chances here and there, but it won't be quite as hot and humid as it has been."
