Sunny start will give way to rainy weekend

TAMPA — Despite Friday's sunny start, the forecast calls for rain heading into the weekend.

Stray showers or a thunderstorm or two were expected later Friday, according to WTSP 10Weather.

"It's going to be a wet weekend," Natalie Gusack, National Weather Service meteorologist said, adding that Tampa Bay could expect an inch or more of rain in the next few days.

"There can be an expectation for showers and storms throughout the area," she said.

Rain chances remain at 50 percent all weekend, increasing to 60 percent by Sunday night. A high of 86 was forecast for Saturday and Sunday.

Scattered thunderstorms were also expected on Saturday throughout the day, according to WTSP, with still more slated for Sunday.
