Busch Gardens will add two new roller coasters by 2020, including a just-announced Gwazi replacement

Busch Gardens already hosts more roller coasters than any other theme park in Florida. It announced Friday that it's about to get two more. We already knew that Tigris, which will be Florida’s tallest launch coaster, is poised to open in the spring. Then Busch Gardens dropped the news that its old wooden roller coaster Gwazi, which closed in 2015, is about to get reincarnated. Construction has already begun on what will be a wood and steel hybrid coaster, featuring a maximum height of more than 200 feet tall.

Driver identified in in Sarasota hit-and-run that was captured on video

The driver who caused a horrific hit-and-run in Sarasota that sent a car tumbling through a parking lot and left its 19-year-old driver in critical condition has been identified, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Zachari Brock, 24, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving a serious injury and driving with no valid driver's license involving a serious injury, authorities said. The crash occurred Thursday morning and was caught on video from a nearby hotel's security camera. You can watch that video here.

Firm behind Miami bridge that collapsed announces bankruptcy

Florida grabbed national headlines last March after an under-construction pedestrian bridge on the campus of Florida International University in Miami collapsed, killing six. Now, the contractor that built the bridge is filing for bankruptcy protection. Miami-based Munilla Construction Management said in a press release on Saturday the Chapter 11 filing was not an attempt to escape responsibility that might arise for the March 15 collapse. It said the company plans to resolve the claims as part of the debt restructuring process.
