• The warm front that steered Emily toward the Tampa Bay area on Monday does lift back north today, bringing showers, storms and higher humidity, especially in the afternoon, according to 10Weather WTSP.

• As you head out for your morning commute, check out our live blog for the latest traffic updates and road conditions across Tampa Bay.

• Should Hillsborough County turn its old emergency operations center in the Seminole Heights area into a homeless shelter? Commissioners will take the first step to discuss the option today. Hillsborough reporter Steve Contorno. first wrote about the idea in May.

• There are eight candidates vying to represent a diverse and sprawling District 6 on the St. Petersburg City Council. But Waveney Ann Moore explains why some African-American leaders are concerned that the district has become too big, depriving the African-American community of political representation.

• Hillsborough district leaders rebutted some of the speakers' concerns Tuesday night. Superintendent Jeff Eakins said teachers will receive supply money, although not all at the beginning of the year. Then, with little discussion, the board unanimously approved a $2.9 billion budget for 2017-18. Marlene Sokol explains what this means going forward.

• Pasco County deputies are conducting a homicide investigation after a victim was killed in a possible domestic incident in Holiday. A suspect is in custody, and deputies said this appears to be an isolated incident. Stay with tampabay.com for updates.

• When first meeting Tampa Prep senior Alice Hamilton, it's easy to perceive her as quiet, maybe even shy. Turns out, she has a lot to say. "When I started high school, I wanted to try a lot of different things and figure out what worked for me,'' Hamilton said. "I found that when I stepped into a leadership role, I could make more of a difference in my community. I could help other people find their goals. So basically, that's what I've been trying to do.'' Hamilton, an Odessa resident, was honored this summer as one of five winners of the Bank of America Student Leader award, which emphasizes community work and volunteerism.

• Natalie Nagengast, 29, has run the Pierce Street Market on the Clearwater downtown waterfront for two, seven-month seasons. When the city put the market contract to bid in June, Nagengast said she did not apply because the "two year" experience requirement disqualified her. The city has extended the bid window for two weeks and amended the wording to accommodate Nagengast. Tracey McManus has the details.
