TAMPA -- Both of the Bucs' starting guards were absent from the start of Wednesday's practice, so the team reverted to the look they finished with last season, with Ted Larsen at center and Jeremy Zuttah shifted to left guard.

Guard Carl Nicks is out indefinitely as the team seeks a solution to his recurrence of a MRSA staph infection in his injured left foot, which may require surgery and an extended absence. The other starting guard, Davin Joseph, was also absent during the opening window of practice open to the media; Joseph missed all of last season with a knee injury and hasn't looked like his healthy self in action this season. The Bucs had Gabe Carimi -- who played only four special-teams snaps Sunday as he returns from a bout with mono, working as the starting right guard during drills.

The Bucs did have receiver Mike Williams back at practice after having him inactive Sunday with a lingering hamstring injury. Running back Jeff Demps (groin) and defensive end Da'Quan Bowers (foot) were not seen at practice. The Bucs did have cornerback Michael Adams working after being sidelined with a knee injury, and cornerback Danny Gorrer practiced for the first time, though he's not eligible to play until Week 9.
