The blame is Biden’s

Kabul attack kills dozens | Aug. 27

The president set a date and refused to listen to his intelligence and military advisers and, as a result, 13 U.S. servicemen are dead. There is no blaming the former administration for the total failure of our troop and Afghan allies’ withdrawal and exit of Afghanistan. President Joe Biden shoulders the entire blame for this utterly disgraceful military embarrassment and loss of American lives.

Faint praise

What you need to know about the chaotic U.S. departure from Afghanistan | Column, Aug. 27

For President Joe Biden to brag about the success of the massive airlift in Afghanistan is like having the captain of a cruise ship, who has managed to sink the ship, then brag about getting most of the passengers into lifeboats.

Not abandoned

Kabul attack kills dozens | Aug. 27

The United States provided the weapons and equipment to the Afghan government and army who fled or surrendered. It wasn’t just “abandoned.” It’s very disheartening to hear we “abandoned” anything when the U.S. and our allies tried to promote and support a democratic state. My heart aches for our armed forces and veterans, especially those who gave their lives trying to boost the Afghans. But how were our forces supposed to train those soldiers without equipment and then what? Then take it with us and leave them without any means of at least attempting to stand up to the Taliban?

Impinging on my freedom

If you love Trump, get vaccinated | Another voice, Aug. 26

To all of the unvaccinated people out there who claim getting vaccinated violates their personal freedom, let me say that these same people are infringing on my personal freedom, as well as possibly my health. They are sure they will be harmed in some way if they were to have to wear a mask or get a vaccination. Unfortunately, these are the exact same people who are currently overcrowding our hospitals and dying, especially in Florida. I am of a generation where we had polio vaccinations and small pox vaccinations as children. No one marched, claiming their personal freedoms were being abused. Instead they decided to protect their children with vaccinations.
