Florida's version of Deadliest Catch has begun as local recreational and commercial fisherman are baiting up their crab traps. The major percentage of all Stone Crab claws harvested are from Florida and shipped all over the world. Stone Crab season runs from Oct. 15 to May 15 each year. Recreational anglers can have five crab traps per person. Be sure to measure your claws; they must be 2 ¾ inches long to harvest. Crab traps are easy to build, or you can buy them ready made. Misty Wells' best local bait of choice is pig's feet or fish.
