Saint Leo University is hosting an Undergraduate Admissions Open House at 8 a.m. Feb. 16 at the campus, 33701 State Road 52, St. Leo. High school students in grades 9-12 are welcome to enter an essay contest sponsored by the offices of Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano. In 500 words or less, students should answer the question: "Should property taxes be raised or lowered? What would be the impact of whichever decision you make?" Deadline to enter is 5 p.m. Feb. 28. Entries will be judged by directors from the Pasco County Tax Collector's Office. The winner will receive a $300 cash scholarship. Students in private, parochial, non-public or home schools may send their essays directly to Greg Giordano, Assistant Tax Collector, Pasco County Tax Collector's Office, P.O. Box 276, Dade City, FL 33526. Entries may also be delivered to the office in New Port Richey at 4720 U.S. Highway 19, New Port Richey 34652 c/o Greg Giordano. The Rotary Club of Trinity is accepting applications for the organization's 2019 "Al Arzu" Scholarship. Applicants must be a high school senior and reside in and attend school in Pasco County to be eligible to apply. Applications must be postmarked by April 15. Graduating seniors who meet a specific criteria are welcome apply for the Republican Party of Pasco County scholarship. To be eligible, students must attend a Pasco County High school, be a registered Republican, have a cumulative 3.0 GPA and plan on attending an accredited community college/university or accredited vocational school in Florida. Entrants should complete a minimum 650-word essay on the topic: "What is the importance of conservative values for young people in today's world?"
