Florida Gulf Coast Cluster of Dog Shows: Ten days of American Kennel Club's All-Breed Dog Shows kick off at 8 a.m. Jan. 10 at Florida Classic Park, 5360 Lockhart Road, east of Brooksville. Shows continue from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day from Jan. 10-14 and Jan. 16-20. There will be two days of agility trials, 10 days of conformation, owner handler, junior showmanship, obedience trials, rally trials, puppy competition and the new coursing ability tests. Raising Cane: A Sweet and Spicy Event: The event celebrating chili and cane syrup will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 12 at Pioneer Florida Museum, 15602 Pioneer Museum Road, Dade City. Includes a cane syrup tasting contest at 9 a.m., with 24 syrup producers participating. The Kiwanis will have a pancake breakfast from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Live entertainment begins at 11:15 a.m. with the Sara Rose Band, the Sandy Back Porch and the Barking Dogs. The highlight of the event will be a chili cook-off and a chili, chili verde and salsa competition. Tasting cups for sampling are $5. Cash and trophies will be awarded for first-, second- and third-place winners. The competition is sanctioned by the International Chili Society. Friday Night Live: The popular monthly event will be from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Jan. 11 at Hernando Park, 205 E Fort Dade Ave., Brooksville. Featuring live music, food trucks, games in the park, market and full bar. Free. Call (352) 540-6409.

Big Band Bash: The Hernando Jazz Society will present the JR Farley Orchestra live at 2 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Wellington Clubhouse, 400 Wexford Blvd., Spring Hill. The afternoon will include music and dancing to tunes from the Big Band era. Admission is free for Hernando Jazz Society members; nonmembers pay $10 each or $15 per couple. Paint that Tune: The exhibit opens Jan. 12 at Uptown Art Gallery/Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Ave., Brooksville. Artists can submit 3-5 pieces of artwork painted or created while listening to favorite tunes. These can be fun pieces, serious pieces or just a favorite type of work. Anything goes. All mediums welcome. Submissions must be made between 9 a.m. and noon Jan. 12. A reception will be 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 18. The exhibit will continue through March 9. Look ahead

Brooksville Raid Reenactment: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 19 and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at Sand Hill Scout Reservation, 11210 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill. Includes food, music, demonstrations, sutlers, pony rides, artillery demonstration and the battle reenactment between Union and Confederate soldiers.
