All Eyes: festive holiday events from around Tampa Bay

The holidays are a time for families and friends to gather. Here are some images of those events which bring people together to celebrate the season.

Seven-year-old Jade Stevenson hugs Donald Dowridge Jr. as an African American Santa Claus. An African American Santa Claus visits the Carter G. Woodson Museum during their Dolls, Balls & Books holiday toy drive. The Woodson will be donating the hundreds of toys collected to area charities which will then be handed out to children. Volunteers help out military families pick out their live Christmas trees. MacDill Air Force Base received a special holiday delivery of approximately Christmas trees as part of the Trees for Troops program. The trees were given away to military families from all branches of service stationed at MacDill, Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018. Colonel Stephen P. Snelson the Commander of the 6th Air Mobility Wing praised the program saying, "This was a very special early gift for all of their service members and is just really fantastic." This year marked the 14th anniversary of the program, which brings together FedEx, the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation and tree farmers across America, Last year, Trees for the Troops donated and deliver 17,400 farm-grown trees to 70 US military bases and 250 trees delivered them to four international bases. The Lightning, in conjunction with Publix, General Mills and the United Way, bring holiday cheer to families in need by providing them with a free shopping spree at Publix. The families were joined in their shopping by a Lightning player, alumni or personality including Lightning players Yanni Gourde, Ryan McDonagh, Brayden Point and Anton Stralman, along with Lightning alumni Dave Andreychuk and Brian Bradley, as well as team broadcasters.
