Clearwater woman named Big Sister of the Year for BBBS of Tampa Bay

Retired educator Carolyn Sinclair of Clearwater and her “Little Sister,” Nikki, were named Big Sister and Little Sister of the Year for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay. Last year, BBBS of Tampa Bay served more than 3,000 children with role models throughout Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Citrus, Hernando and Citrus counties.Sinclair is now eligible to compete for Florida’s Bigs and Littles of the Year.

Dunedin 12-year-old earns third degree black belt

Zoey Vetter, 12, earned her third degree black belt at Dunedin Taekwondo Academy. She started when she was 5 and in seven years accomplished her third degree, making her the youngest female to obtain this honor at the academy.

Largo awarded 2018 Green Local Government Award

Largo was recently awarded the 2018 Green Local Government Award by the Suncoast US Green Building Council. Over the last year the city has developed the Largo Environmental Action Plan, committed to transitioning to 100 percent renewable energy by 2050, set a goal of all electric light-duty vehicles by 2025, installed electric vehicle charging stations and approved a ban on single-use plastic items.
