Motorcyclist dies Friday night in Pinellas County crash

ST. PETERSBURG — A motorcyclist died Friday night in Pinellas County after crashing on Interstate 275, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Charles Jeffery Brackett, 27, of St. Petersburg, was identified as the motorcyclist late Saturday. He was traveling south when he tried to pass two vehicles, a Toyota Corolla and a Ford F-250 pickup, FHP troopers said. He lost control of the motorcycle, which hit the car. In the collision, Brackett was thrown back and run over by the truck, officials said. He was taken to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg, where he later died.

The drivers of both vehicles were not injured, troopers said.

The crash, which occurred at about 10 p.m., closed portions of southbound I-275 until 2:30 a.m.
