Rays reportedly close to acquiring Forsythe

The Rays are reportedly close to acquiring utility infielder Logan Forsythe in a multi-player deal with the Padres.

Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan reported late Tuesday night that if the trade is finalized, it will involve at least five players.

Forsythe, 27, hit .214 with six homers in 75 games last season for San Diego. He could provide infield depth, as he has played second, third, shortstop as well as both corner outfield spots in parts of three big-league seasons.

MLB Daily Dish's Chris Cotillo, who was first in reporting on the potential trade, writes that LHP Alex Torres "seems likely" headed to the Padres, and each team seems set to receive additional prospects. But there has been nothing official, or confirmed.
