More than two-dozen USF recruits -- eight of them from bay area high schools -- are expected to attend the Bulls' season opener Saturday night against Towson.
But the most intriguing name is one that may sound familiar to grizzled Bulls fans.
Punta Gorda Charlotte senior ATH D'Andre "Dee" Hicks, son of former Bulls WR Elgin Hicks, is among those expected to be at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday. If the younger Hicks ultimately were to sign with USF, it is believed he'd be the first legacy in program history.
Elgin Hicks played at USF from 2001-03 and still shares the school record for TD catches in a game (three). His son, a three-star recruit according to 247Sports, was a receiver for last season's 12-1 Tarpons team (which featured current USF freshman RB Elijah Mack), but is playing quarterback this season.
Here's some Hudl footage of the younger Hicks.
Also expected Saturday are nine seniors who have verbally committed to USF: Cocoa ATH Bruce Judson, Tampa Catholic CB Bentlee Sanders, Hillsborough ATH Duran Bell Jr., Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna WR Daewood Davis, Bradenton Southeast DE Darrien Grant, Orlando Dr. Phillips WR Emare Hogan, Jefferson OG Jean Marcellus, Ocala Trinity Catholic OT Jeremiah Stafford and Tallahassee North Florida Christian LB Michael Scott.
Other bay area prospects set to attend are Wiregrass Ranch two-way juniors Daniel Biglow and Jordan Miner, Wharton junior DB Aj Hampton, Wesley Chapel junior ATH Isaiah Bolden and Armwood senior DE Jabreel Stephens.
