There are approximately 171,146 words in the English language. And yet, none of them could accurately illustrate the blueprint for the future of the active senior lifestyle experience in Tampa. That is, until a renowned local senior living provider created the word that accurately details its plans to introduce the exciting lifestyle choices that savvy seniors have been asking for: Unisen.
Unisen Senior Living is the recently unveiled new identity of University Village, continuing care retirement community in Tampa that was recently acquired by not-for-profit senior living operator, Tampa Life Plan Village. For over 30 years, the community has been synonymous with resident-directed independent living programs, as well as the features and amenities that inspire members of the community to enjoy all the best parts of a modern retirement.
The name change isn’t the only part of newly minted Unisen’s transformation. It’s only the beginning! In July 2020, the community began an ambitious $25 million campus-wide renovation project that will see state-of-the-art upgrades made to the apartments, villas and shared spaces.
Renovation of the villas – offering two bedrooms, two baths, 1,288 square feet of living space and a single-car garage – has recently been completed. These homes are now for sale and are expected to be in high demand. Sales of the renovated studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments will follow shortly and are expected to begin mid-year.
Unisen’s transformation is being spearheaded by Big Rock Partners, a national senior living community developer. The Big Rock Partners team is dedicated to creating communities promoting wellness and a world-class selection of unifying and enriching experiences, both on campus and in the surrounding locale.
First and foremost, Unisen’s mission is to provide the best value in senior living experience. This means providing luxury living options at prices starting below six figures so as not to price potential residents out of the lifestyle they deserve. It’s a model that Unisen can implement effortlessly. The same can’t be said for most other continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs).
Unusually spacious apartment homes enhanced with smart technology; casual and formal dining offerings; fitness center; heated indoor pool; upscale amenities; resident-led programs, a lifelong learning program partnership with the University of South Florida and convenient access to entertainment, sporting events, shopping and dining in culturally rich Tampa Bay – this is just a sampling of all the possibilities active seniors have to look forward to as Unisen residents.
As a CCRC, Unisen offers peace of mind and a plan for the future. Current residents have noted that the exceptional lifestyle choices and partnerships with the area’s major assisted living and health care providers made the decision to move to the community an easy one. And the fact that Unisen is working toward offering assisted living on campus in the very near future is a plus as well. Residents have confidence that they can be who they are, live the life they want to live and have access to assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing services, should they ever need them in the future. Unisen is where active seniors can do it big, do it better, and do it all!
