For over 35 years, Shirley Tyler has operated an accounting and tax firm near her home in St. Petersburg. As the company’s president, her responsibilities have run the gamut from preparing personal and business taxes to providing consulting services, building long-lasting relationships with clients, managing a staff of employees and more.
Shirley has been both a personal and professional advisor to many of her clients, and for some, a trusted friend. But when her hearing loss began to creep into frame, she suddenly became uncomfortable in her role.
“When someone would talk to me, I couldn’t hear them clearly anymore – I couldn’t clarify what they were saying,” she recalled. “Since I would never allow myself to have hearing problems too long, I decided to get a pair of hearing aids.”
Shirley purchased her first set of hearing aids over a decade ago from an unnamed company, but the devices just weren’t getting the job done. Sometime in 2008, she happened to drive by an Audibel Hearing Center, which was conveniently located in her neighborhood, and decided to give the company a try.
During her initial consultation and examination at Audibel, a friendly hearing aid specialist conducted an audiometric test of Shirley’s ears, clearly explaining the results with a detailed audiogram. She was then fitted with a pair of – at that time – high-tech hearing aids, and has since upgraded to a state-of-the-art wireless set.
Shirley has been so satisfied with the results that she’s stayed with Audibel ever since, referring several acquaintances in the subsequent years.
“Audibel has been absolutely wonderful these past 11 years; they’ve always been incredibly patient and helpful,” Shirley noted. “I’m finally back to feeling comfortable talking with my clients. And my employees probably notice most that I don’t say, “What?” anymore.
“I don’t ever take my hearing aids out other than to put new batteries in them or when I’m going to bed at night. And Audibel makes it incredibly easy to schedule service and cleanings.”
