Calvin Hamilton Talks About How Obsession Produces Results

Nothing in life is gained without hard work. And without powerful motivation, it’s easy to experience burnout. For Calvin Hamilton, if you have an obsession with your product, you will find more success even if most of what you are doing seems meaningless.

Calvin is a big believer in the Pareto Principle. It says that 80% of effects come from 20% of causes. What does that mean to Calvin? That the vast majority of what you do will be a waste of time. But if you recognize it, you can take appropriate actions to address it. So, you need to be patient with yourself and have an obsession with your product. At just 21 years old, Calvin found a way to turn his obsession into a career.

As a kid, Calvin was an avid gamer. He loved playing Call of Duty 4 for hours on end until his thumbs were sore. This obsession led him to learning the ins and outs of the multi-channel-network marketing industry, and eventually working at VaynerMedia as a Social Media Manager on Team GaryVee. But seeing a need for companies operating from a place of transparency, Calvin was eventually led to start his own boutique marketing and brand strategy firm, Engineer Influence. “Despite being as young as I am, I feel like I’ve gathered a lot of experience having worked with some of the most prolific companies and entrepreneurs in the world… So, when it comes to the work, I’m always willing to try new things and do my best,” says Calvin Hamilton.

To stay true to his vision, Calvin has had to work hard to scale his firm while not sacrificing service. He’s had to learn to stay patient even when he hasn’t seen his business gain traction as he is laying the groundwork. As he works to build an infrastructure, he isn’t doing any of the flashy things you see on social media, but Calvin knows it will all be worth it. “I’m just making sure that every client that walks through our door is going to have the best experience that we can afford to give them,” says Calvin Hamilton.

Calvin has had the pleasure of working with some top Fortune 500 companies at VaynerMedia, such as Apple, JP Morgan, and Johnson & Johnson. He’s also worked with digital celebrities and executives like Ryan Serhant, Jim Kwik, and David Meltzer.
