The entry-level medical support assistant position serves on the frontline of the organization, and is responsible for scheduling medical appointments, maintaining confidential records and providing exceptional customer service in person and over the phone, among other tasks. Candidates should be comfortable working in a collaborative, customer-centric environment where face-to-face opportunities to work and interact with veterans occur daily.

Qualified candidates will have an associate or bachelor’s degree (bachelor’s degree preferred) or one year of administrative work experience in a clinical setting. Don’t have a health care degree? Don’t be deterred. Even if your degree isn’t in the medical field, degrees in different fields of study are often transferable. The James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital has over 6,000 employees, many of whom have backgrounds in an array of fields. Advanced medical support assistants at the James A.
