The benefits of new impact windows in your home really add up, in big ways and small.
They enhance your home’s curb appeal. Inside and out.
They keep your home cooler during the hottest weather, and warmer during the coldest, so your HVAC doesn’t have to work as hard.
They make it easy to sleep in. They soften the racket outside that might keep you up. Just because everybody else in the neighborhood is up and about, doesn’t mean you have to be.
They raise your home’s perceived and actual value. If you decide you want to sell your home, impact windows are a significant selling point. That’s one less potential expense buyers have to worry about.
They bolster your security. Our area has had some scary close calls during our last few hurricane seasons. Impact windows provide reassuring protection and resilience during severe weather and hurricanes, and make your home more secure against attempted break-ins as well.
So…why should you act now? The My Safe Florida Home program. This program was enacted by the Florida Legislature to help single-family homeowners protect their homes against hurricanes and save money doing it. Owners of any site-built, single-family residential Florida property may apply for a FREE home hurricane inspection. The inspection details the strength of your home against hurricanes, along with recommended improvements.
When recommended by this free inspection, program grant money has been made available for the following strengthening improvements:
Roofs & Structure – Reinforce Roof-to-Wall Connections • Install Secondary Water Resistance for the Roof • Upgrade Roof Covering • Improve the Strength of Roof Deck Attachments
Openings – Exterior Door Upgrades • Garage Door Upgrades • Window Upgrades
• You may be eligible to apply for $2 in state grant money* for every $1 you spend on eligible home strength improvements (*up to $10,000, the home must be located in designated wind-borne debris regions).
• NO state sales tax (6%) on retail purchases of impact-resistant doors, impact-resistant garage doors, and impact-resistant windows from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2024.
• Potentially lower your home insurance premiums by participating in the program. Given that they are about to go up significantly, this is especially important.
