Tricia Whitaker has been named the new in-game reporter for Rays telecasts on Fox Sports Sun.

Whitaker, 29, had been working since December 2014 as a sports anchor and reporter for the Fox and CBS affiliates in Indianapolis. She previously worked for the ABC station in Green Bay and as an intern for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers' website. She is a 2012 Indiana University grad and has served as an adjunct instructor teaching a sports broadcasting course.

Whitaker, who was born in Stuart, Fla., said she grew up in Indiana a huge baseball fan, traveled with her dad to many big-league stadiums (though not the Trop) to see games and was “ridiculously excited” to fulfill her dream of covering a team. In addition to being the lead in-game reporter she will host select episodes of the Inside the Rays show.

Whitaker will be the fifth reporter to work on Rays broadcasts over six seasons. She follows Kelly Nash (who left for MLB Network), Emily Austen (who was fired midway through her second season for making inappropriate comments), Alex Corddry (who didn’t come back for a second season) and Michelle Margaux (who left after last season to join the NBA’s Houston Rockets broadcasts).

She would join the rest of the Rays TV crew expected to return: Dewayne Staats, Brian Anderson, Rich Hollenberg, Orestes Destrade and Doug Waechter.
