PHILADELPHIA — Victor Hedman will not play in Tuesday’s game in Philadelphia after he was injured during Monday’s game in Columbus.

Hedman played the whole first period but did not return from the dressing room after the intermission. He was limping slightly after the game. Coach Jon Cooper said Hedman’s injury will be “extremely short term.”

The Lightning recalled defenseman Jan Rutta. He was also recalled for a day last week when Erik Cernak was injured in the game at Florida. Rutta was a healthy scratch for the Feb. 10 game against Calgary and then was promptly reassigned to the AHL once it was clear Cernak would return to the lineup quickly.

Mathieu Joseph has been reassigned to Syracuse to make space on the roster for Rutta. This could be a paper transaction, as it was for Rutta’s previous recall.
