UPDATE, 10:01: Rays manager Kevin Cash said Kiermaier has a “nasty” blister that will likely keep him out of the lineup for the next few days that is related to breaking in a new pair of cleats.
Cash said Kiermaier threw barefoot in the batting cages on Saturday. Cash left Kiermaier’s availability open for Monday’s home game against the Marlins, but it appears he won’t play that game.
UPDATE, 9:44: Kiermaier is not in the lineup; he said he is “fine” and was under the impression he was playing Monday and Tuesday.
"I knew I wasn’t playing today,'' he said. "We’re taking it easy on my blister (on his right heel). I was scheduled to go Monday and Tuesday. I thought that was the plan from the jump.''
