UPDATE, 10:12: Opening day starter Blake Snell will work in a minor-league game on Saturday in Port Charlotte, then is slated to face the Pirates on March 22 in prep for his March 28 assignment vs. the Astros. ... Joey Wendle is starting at 3B today. Cash said there’s definitely scenarios vs right-handed pitchers where they could have Wendle at 3B, B. Lowe at 2B and Choi at 1B, maybe even in first series vs. the Astros, who likely are using four righties. ... Matt Duffy said his left hamstring continues to feel good and he plans to test it running at 80 percent Saturday on the arcs (behind the infield dirt), and also will hit today in the live BPs being thrown by Brent Honeywell and Jose De Leon. He and Cash remain optimistic he can be ready for opening day.
