Marc Topkin’s takeaways from Blue Jays-Rays

Big bats, multiple arms and tons of respect highlight Rays’ 11-7 win.

Austin Meadows and Brandon Lowe put their names with some big-boy sluggers in hitting the 21st and 22nd homers into the Rogers Centre upper deck, joining Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire, Carlos Delgado, Manny Ramirez, Gary Sheffield, Edwin Encarnacion, Josh Donaldson among others.

Manager Kevin Cash wasn’t kidding in saying the Rays had all options available to follow opener Ryne Stanek, and showed it during the second by having both righty Yonny Chirinos and lefty Ryan Yarbrough warming up. Jays manager Charlie Montoyo notice and playfully motioned to their dugout.
