Victor Hedman reminds Columbus of last year’s collapse while Lightning is outplayed

The Tampa Bay defenseman chose an odd time and manner to chirp the Blue Jackets bench during the Game 2 loss.

Weird chirp, Victor, but okay.

The quality of Victor Hedman’s chirping matched the quality of the Lightning’s play on at least one occasion Friday night.

Tampa Bay was being out played in every sense, Hedman skated right to the end he of the red line (which he can’t cross to talk to the Columbus bench) and flexed.

“‘You guys are really good at this, last year you were up 2-0, too, how’d it end up?’” Pierre McGuire reported Hedman saying during the broadcast on NBCSN.

True enough, Columbus did blow a 2-0 series lead to Washington in last year’s first round. Those first two games were very different from these, however. The Blue Jackets edged the Capitals in overtime twice. They have dominated the Lightning to the point of boos in Amalie Arena.

Even better, Riley Nash was the Blue Jacket sitting closest to Hedman, thus the player to whom this chirp got directed. He played for Boston last year.
