You can walk, run or jog; but if you want a chance to travel across Tampa Bay’s landmark bridge on foot, your window of opportunity closes Sunday night.
While tickets to last year’s 6.2-mile-long event sold out in just 22 minutes, this year’s registration system will operate by lottery.
The names of 7,500 lottery entrants will be randomly selected from the pool. If your name is drawn, you’ll be able to register for the event. Lottery registration is available through the Skyway 10K website.
The cost of the event for lottery winners is $80, but upfront payment isn’t required to throw your name into the hat.
If you’re not feeling lucky, 500 VIP tickets with guaranteed entry are up for grabs for $300. A VIP ticket comes with added perks, including an open bar, priority bus transportation, heated and air-conditioned tents, games, a buffet and access to private VIP bathrooms. Guest passes are available to the VIP area for $180.
All race proceeds will support the Armed Forces Families Foundation, which, according to the Skyway 10K organization, provides aid through infrastructure projects that support military members and their families.
If you’re not a runner, you still have four months to get in shape. The Couch to 5K running program is a good option to consider for beginners. The entry-level workout regimen can be completed in as little as eight weeks.
