Add the 37th annual St. Anthony’s Triathlon to the list of sports events postponed in the Tampa Bay area due to coronavirus concerns. The race was scheduled for April 24-26.

Organizers announced in a release Tuesday that they are working with the city of St. Petersburg and USA Triathalon to find a date later this year.

“The health and well-being of our athletes, volunteers and all those who would be part of the event are of the utmost importance to us,” said St. Anthony’s Hospital president Scott Smith in the release. “With the number of COVID-19 cases increasing, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended canceling or postponing large events for eight weeks. As such, we are postponing our event until further notice.”

Organizers said that if the event cannot get rescheduled, they will post additional information regarding refunds or registration deferment to a future race.
