TAMPA — The Raptors moved into their temporary practice facility this week and on Thursday released the first images of their new Tampa home.
Built in a ballroom space on the fourth floor of the yet-to-be-opened J.W. Marriott hotel in downtown Tampa (adjacent to Amalie Arena, where the Raptors will play home games through at least March 4), the facility includes two full practice courts, a locker room, meeting rooms and team offices.
We will take a closer look at the facility, the work it took to design and build it, and how the Raptors have made Tampa their temporary home in next week’s Tampa Bay Times.
The Raptors play their first game at Amalie Arena on Friday, an exhibition game against the Miami Heat, and open the regular season Wednesday against the New Orleans Pelicans. The team practiced for the first time at Amalie Arena on Thursday.
