Panthers hold off Flyers for 4th win in row

SUNRISE — James Reimer stopped 29 shots and the Panthers beat the Flyers 3-2 on Thursday for their fourth straight victory.

Derek MacKenzie and Jonathan Huberdeau scored in the second period as the Panthers earned their first win over the Flyers since March 12, 2016, snapping a four-game losing streak against them. Jared McCann also scored.

Brian Elliott made 24 saves for the Flyers, who play the Lightning tonight at Amalie Arena. Scott Laughton and Sean Couturier scored in the third period.

Reimer faced an aggressive Flyers comeback in the last part of the game after the Panthers carried a 3-0 lead into the third.

Game highlights: Alex Ovechkin scored in regulation and the shootout, and the host Capitals cooled the Bruins 4-3. Boston entered the game with 14 wins in its previous 18 games.

Expansion mark for Vegas: With a 4-1 win over the Ducks late Wednesday, the Golden Knights had earned at least one point in 10 straight games (9-0-1), the longest point streak for a team in its inaugural season. They eclipsed the record of nine games set by the 1993-94 Panthers (5-0-4). The Golden Knights took a five-game winning streak into a game against the Kings on Thursday night.

Murray wasn't expected to play tonight against the Hurricanes.
