OAKLAND, Calif. — Mark Trumbo enjoyed a pretty good April. May is shaping up the same way.
Trumbo hit a home run for the third straight day, his sixth this season, Howie Kendrick and Mike Trout also homered and the Angels ended a four-game losing streak, beating the Athletics 5-4 on Wednesday.
"A win's a win," Trumbo said. "It was probably more of a nail-biter than we would have liked. This team hangs around and they'll find a way to get back in it if you let them. You just have to keep your foot on the gas pedal and try to pound them into submission before they get their second wind."
Trumbo carries a .301 average into the series opener against the Orioles tonight. He's a career .283 hitter in April. He has even better stats in May, his .323 average the best of any month.
"Trum is definitely finding his comfort level in the box," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.
