General admission tickets for the upcoming Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg go on sale today at 2 p.m. A limited number of tickets will be released, and event organizers have said they plan to host up to 20,000 spectators for the Oct. 23-25 event.
The race was originally scheduled for March and would have been the IndyCar Series' season opener, but it was called off during the early days of the coronavirus shutdown. It will instead serve as IndyCar’s championship race; Scott Dixon and Josef Newgarden are the two drivers in contention.
Previously bought general admission tickets will be accepted, but tickets with reserved seating have been reissued because of social-distancing guidelines. Masks will be required, and everyone who enters the downtown track area will have to do a health screening and temperature check.
