Kyle Busch wins in Nationwide at Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Extending his NASCAR Nationwide series record to 69 victories was nice. Winning for the second week in a row and the sixth time this season were, too.

What really mattered to Kyle Busch, though, was the chance to get some more competitive laps at Kansas Speedway going into today's Sprint Cup race.

"Some good things happened today that I was able to pick up on," Busch said after making a late pass on Kevin Harvick then holding on to take the Kansas Lottery 300.

Vettel leaving Red Bull: Four-time defending Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel will leave Red Bull at the end of the season and is expected to soon announce a deal with Ferrari. Also, Nico Rosberg edged Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton for the pole at the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka. The race was run overnight.

NHRA: Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel), Cruz Pedregon (Funny Car), Erica Enders-Stevens (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) led qualifying for today's NHRA Nationals in Mohnton, Pa.
