Corey Dickerson got an unexpected start against lefty Drew Pomeranz and made the most of it, including his third homer. Add a couple of impressive defensive plays in left and Dickerson is looking more like the impact player the Rays expected in the Jake McGee trade.

The evidence at this point is anecdotal rather than analytical, but the amount of times the Rays defensive shifts have been beaten raises the question of whether it's bad circumstances or hitters are taking aim and the Rays need to made some adjustments.

RHP Alex Cobb is a bulldog who will battle with whatever he has that day as long as he can, but until he gets back command of the changeup, his most effective pre-Tommy John pitch, he's going to have more long days like Sunday.
