It's baffling how RHP Jake Odorizzi continues to give up home runs each start. The baseballs appear a tad juiced this year, but that doesn't explain how Odorizzi has allowed at least one home run in a team-record 13 straight starts or 20 of his past 21.
It has been a tough year at the plate for 2B Brad Miller, who was batting .194 prior to Friday's game. But he returned from his second stint on the DL with a bang. He doubled in his first at-bat and singled home a run in his second. If he hits close to how he did last year, this offense will really score some runs.
The bunt is a big part of CF Mallex Smith's game, but maybe it wasn't the best idea to drag a bunt to first with C Wilson Ramos on third and 2B Brad Miller on second during the second inning. No way Ramos, coming off knee surgery, risks getting into a rundown. The result was two outs on the bases and the end of the scoring threat.
