Bobrovsky a winner in return

Published Jan. 7, 2014

NEW YORK — Sergei Bobrovsky had 40 saves through overtime and two more in the shootout in his first action in more than a month, and Brandon Dubinsky had a goal and an assist against his former team in the Blue Jackets' 4-3 victory over the Rangers on Monday.

Bobrovsky stopped Mats Zuccarello and Rick Nash in the tiebreaker, and Mark Letestu and Ryan Johansen scored against Henrik Lundqvist to win it.

Former Blue Jacket Nash tied it with his second power-play goal of the night at 6:55 of the third.

Bobrovsky shined in his return from a 14-game absence caused by a strained groin.

The Rangers got a point because of Nash, acquired in the deal that sent Dubinsky to Columbus in 2012. Lundqvist had 36 saves through overtime.

Around the league: Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers was suspended three games without pay for an illegal check to Devils forward Dainius Zubrus' head on Saturday, costing him $84,615. … Wild captain Mikko Koivu, the team's top scorer with 35 points, is out about a month after surgery on a broken ankle. Minnesota goalie Josh Harding (illness) also went on injured reserve.

Olympics: Goalie Jonas Hiller of the Ducks and Flyers defenseman Mark Streit were among 25 named to Switzerland's roster for the Sochi Winter Games next month.
