What’s the only thing better than a Publix chicken tenders sub?
A Publix chicken tenders sub with bacon.
Or, as the popular, Lakeland-based supermarket chain calls it, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sub.
The current Bucs sub, in stores now, features Publix chicken tenders, Boar’s Head fully cooked bacon, Publix deli imported cheddar cheese, spicy gold sauce, shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes on a sub roll.
This is the fifth year for the Bucs sub and third with this recipe.
— Spicy Salsalito Turkey & Chipotle Gouda, guacamole, peach mango salsa, plantain chips, and shredded lettuce
— Mojo pork, Spanish pork, sweet ham, Swiss cheese, mayo/mustard spread, and pickle slices.
Publix also created subs featuring chicken tenders for the Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons.
The Falcons sub is the most different, comprised of sweet maple-flavored chicken tenders, bacon, sriracha mayonnaise and peach preserves.
The Jaguars sub swaps coleslaw for the lettuce and tomato, and is topped with barbecue sauce.
The Dolphins sub substitutes garlic parmesan for the spicy gold sauce.
What are your thoughts on the Bucs sub? Is it an improvement over previous versions? And how does it stack up against those available in the other NFL markets?
