Vernon Hargreaves has gone from a team with a long shot of making the playoffs to a squad leading its division.
The Houston Texans claimed the former first-round pick of the Bucs off of waivers Wednesday, according to multiple reports. The Bucs coaches benched Hargreaves earlier
Tampa Bay cut Hargreaves earlier this week after he was benched mid-game Sunday due to a lack of hustle. He also failed to produce impressive statistics this season with only one interception, four passes defensed and 36 tackles through nine games.
Houston has pushed to improve its secondary during the season. It traded for former Raiders first-round picke Gareon Conley earlier this year and added Bradley Roby, a former Broncos first-round pick, during the offeseason.
The Texans (6-3) hold a one-game lead over the Colts (5-4) and play the Ravens on Sunday.
