TAMPA — Bucs outside linebacker Shaq Barrett is now just one sack shy of tying Warren Sapp’s single-season franchise record after the league made a stat correction to credit Barrett with a full sack in Sunday’s home win over the Colts instead of a half one.
Initially, Barrett shared a half sack with defensive lineman Will Gholston on their fourth-quarter takedown of Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
On the play, a first-and-10 play at the Tampa Bay 48 in the third quarter, Barrett turned the corner from the left edge and dove at Brissett to wrap him up low while Gholston came in high.
The adjustment gives Barrett 15 1/2 sacks on the season, which ties Simeon Rice (2002) for second on the Bucs’ single-season sack list and is one shy from the team record set by Sapp in 2000. It also gives Barrett three straight games with at least one full sack.
