TAMPA ― By midday on Monday, we’ll know a lot more about the Bucs’ plans for the 2020 season. The NFL moved the deadline for designating franchise and transition players to 11:59:59 a.m. on Monday, March 16. One second later, at noon, the free agency legal tampering period begins. It’s the second time the NFL has moved the deadline for tagging players, in no small part because of the extension for NFL players to vote on a proposed collective bargaining agreement. The deadline for that is now 11:59 p.m. Saturday.Teams can begin negotiating deals with free agents at noon on Monday. The free-agent signing period begins with the new league year at 4 p.m. on March 16.It shouldn’t affect the Bucs plans much. Barring a contract extension, they still are expected to use the franchise player tag on linebacker Shaquil Barrett while potentially allowing Jameis Winston to reach free agency. But at least they all have some more time to think about it.
