TAMPA — Bucs quarterback Tom Brady could participate in a televised golf event for coronavirus relief along with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Peyton Manning, reports say.

Brady would pair with Mickelson and Woods with Manning in a 2-on-2 format, CNBC reported. The event is being finalized by the PGA Tour and TimeWarner Media, and would likely happen in May, the report said.

The event would take place on a course in Florida, golf.com reported.

There would be no fans in attendance, a small production crew would handle the telecast, and players would adhere to the 6-foot social distancing rule, the reports said this week.

The event would be broadcast on one of the TimeWarner Media networks, such as TNT or TBS.

The event still needs PGA approval, which could be a major snag, ESPN reported.

“Discussions along these lines have been ongoing for quite some time, but nothing has been approved by the Tour,” the tour said in a statement Wednesday reported by ESPN.

Including the Masters and the PGA Championship, the PGA Tour has had 11 events canceled or postponed because of the coronavirus since March 13, including the canceled Valspar Championship at Innisbrook in Palm Harbor scheduled for March 19-22. The two major championships are exploring dates later in the year.

The next scheduled event on the PGA Tour is the Charles Schwab Challenge on May 21-24.

Woods and Mickelson faced off in a much-hyped event titled “The Match” in November 2018 at Las Vegas with Mickelson taking home the winner-take-all $9 million prize.

As for Brady’s participation in such a match, the scheduling of NFL offseason programs remains uncertain. Phase 1 of offseason activities was scheduled to begin on the third Monday in April, but that seems likely to be pushed back. Organized team activities aren’t mandatory, and Brady skipped them in the later years of his 20-season career with the Patriots.

Brady has said he’s putting much of his offseason effort into learning a new playbook and trying to build a rapport with his new teammates and coaching staff.
