Former USF head coach and Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong will re-join old boss Urban Meyer on the Jaguars staff, according to various reports.

Brett McMurphy of Stadium reported Strong, dismissed as Bulls coach in December 2019, likely will serve as Jacksonville’s linebackers coach. Strong spent five seasons as Meyer’s defensive coordinator (including three as co-coordinator) at Florida, helping lead the Gators to national titles in 2006 and 2008.

Strong, 60, amassed a 21-16 record in three seasons at USF, but the program dropped 14 of its last 18 games on his watch. He spent this past season as a defensive analyst for Alabama’s national title team.

Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel reported Meyer also will be joined in Jacksonville by former Gators linebacker Ryan Stamper, a Jacksonville native who will serve as director of player assessment.
